Hey Krafty friends, I wanted to tell you about how I got my push to create my Etsy Shop. It was all after joining a program to help me increase my knowledge, skills and abilities in design. As some of you may know, I earned my Bachelors degree in Graphic Design over twenty years ago, but never worked in the field. After getting married and going to graduate school for a Master's in Public Administration, I ended up working in Human Resources ever since. I was able to dabble in creating things for HR, but I was never able to be super creative.
Jump to the end of 2022, when starting A Krafting Alley, I had a dream to begin a creative business but wasn’t sure where to start. After taking a couple of smaller courses on starting a crafty business and various small classes about design, I ran across Carina Gardner's Design Bootcamp. It sounded like what I needed at the time, so I signed up and paid my small fee. It was worth the money, as I felt I got a lot from the bootcamp and connected with Carina during this course!
After going through the bootcamp and doing more research on Carina and her Design Suite Program, I signed up for a one on one with her to see if her program was right for me. I felt like she really knew her stuff because of her education, design background and with the success she has had in her design career. I also liked how honest she was in her communication in what it would take to be a successful designer. Not to mention all of the courses included in her design program along with the coaching and mentoring built into the program. So, needles to say I signed up the next day!
In the beginning of April, 2023, I started my journey as a Design Suite Member! I was so excited, as I knew that this would help me in my pursuit of a successful design career/business! In these few months I have learned so much with the classes (there's so many and packed with info) and mentor sessions (when submitting my designs for critique) and the group meetings (learning from other members). Even though it has been a big investment for me, I have not regret it one bit! I have learned a lot because I have put in a lot of time and effort into gaining knowledge and experience in designing! With Carina's encouragement, and the positive support and influence of other design members, I have opened my Etsy Shop! I plan to continue to grow it with even more designs as I can as it's not easy working full time in my day job. But, as Carina says, consistency is key and even if my business grows slowly, it's still growth! I hope to offer unique and quality designs in my shop and will give great customer service!
