Hey Krafty friends, I was inspired by Altenew’s September 2022 Inspiration Challenge to create this card (and a second). I loved the colors and have a ton of leaf stamps, dies and embossing folders, most of which are Altenew products, so I figured I’d give this one a try!

Step 1: Embossing to make my background

I grabbed an A2 (4 1/4 by 5 1/2) sized sheet of white cardstock to emboss. Then I grabbed Altenew’s Frame of Leave 3D embossing folder and inked up the side where the leaves were debossed with Altenew crisp dye ink cubes in Coral Berry and Frosty Pink. Once inked, I took a brayer to the folder to blend the ink. Then I placed my white cardstock in the embossing folder and ran it through my Spellbinders Plantinum 6 embossing machine.

Step 2: Stamping and die cutting

Using my Mini Misti and Altenew’s Leaf Clusters stamp and die set, I stamped out three leaf clusters using Altenew’s crisp dye ink cube in Frayed Leaf then cut them out using the matching die. Next, I die cut my sentiment using Altenew’s Essential Sentiments Strips Die Set out of a scrap piece of black cardstock I had saved. Then out of another scrap piece of white cardstock I cut a strip slightly larger than the black sentiment so that the greeting would stand out.

Step 3: Putting it all together

Because I wanted to have a black matt piece of cardstock behind my background piece as well as see some of the white on the card base, I cut down the embossed background quite a bit. Enough to have about 1/4th inch border of black and 1/8th border of the white card base. I then glued the embossed background onto the black cardstock then glued it all to the white card base. Next, I arranged my cluster of leaves to my liking and adhered them to the background using foam squares for some dimension. Lastly, I attached the sentiment over the leaf cluster with foam squares also for some dimension so that it can be the same height as the leaf cluster. Then I could call the card done!

So, there it is! The step-by-step process for this card. I was satisfied with how it came out, although quit not how I pictured it in my mind.
